The District

The United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts is a fundamental part of the federal judiciary, serving the entire state of Massachusetts. US District Judge Responsibilities

The District of Massachusetts is staffed by 20 U.S. District Judges, and 11 Magistrate Judges.

A U.S. District Judge oversees federal trials, interpreting and applying federal law. They conduct court proceedings, make legal decisions, and are involved in jury selection and guidance. Their role encompasses both civil and criminal cases at the federal level.

Federal Bail Bonds

In the District of Massachusetts, bond fulfillment documents must be submitted in person at the Criminal Intake window, typically between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Bail payments are accepted via cashier’s checks or money orders; cash over $5,000 and personal checks are not accepted.
